President & CEO of Top Star Group presents Connie Watt with 2018 Top Star Impact Award
Houston, Texas (October 18, 2018) – Connie Watt, Vice President of the JJ Watt Foundation and mother of Houston Texan JJ Watt, was awarded the 2018 Top Star Impact Award in front of a sold out audience at the 2nd Annual Bay Area Houston Women’s Conference on Friday, October 12. Honoring individuals who positively impact their communities with compassionate leadership, Watt’s dedication to helping Houston residents during and after Hurricane Harvey served as the basis for this recognition.

Christina Wells brought the house down with a high energy lunchtime concert
The conference was also dedicated to Glenda Ann Perkins, the substitute teacher who lost her life helping to save students at Santa Fe High School during the mass shooting on May 18, 2018. She was remembered during a special lunchtime performance by Christina Wells “SingChristina”, a Houston native and semi-finalist on America’s Got Talent. Perkins’ daughter, Ashley Perkins, was on hand to receive a dedicatory plaque and share a few words with attendees.

Bay Area Turning Point was the Non-Profit Beneficiary of the 2018 Bay Area Houston Women’s Conference.
Bay Area Turning Point, which provides services to child and adult victims and families experiencing domestic and sexual violence was announced as this year’s Non-Profit beneficiary and received a donation package valued at $1500.

The conference held at The Foundation For Hope Village in Friendswood, Texas included a Live2Lead Bay Area Houston live simulcast featuring Carly Fiorina, former Vice President of Hewlett Packard and the first woman to lead a Fortune 50 company; a cooking demonstration with Chef Mary Bass, a finalist on Food Network’s Cutthroat Kitchen and Founder of Chef’s Table Charities; and a Women In Leadership Panel moderator by Cindy Harreld DeWease, President & CEO of the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce with participants Dr. Leigh Wall, Santa Fe ISD – Official Site Superintendent; Wendy Whalen Ellis, City Manager of Kemah, Texas; and Ummara Sajid, Owner Operator of Chick-fil-A Nassau Bay.

The Bay Area Houston Women’s Conference is a one-day experience designed to provide women with fresh perspectives and practical tools focused on leadership, health and wellness and work-life balance.
